How is a visit to your Naturopathic Doctor
like seeing a Medical Doctor?

Like conventional Medical Doctors (MD’s), Naturopathic Doctors (ND’s) are trained and licensed as primary health care physicians. Naturopathic Doctors are trained to diagnose illness the same way as MD’s.

Like MD’s, ND’s perform conventional physical exams on all patients including gynaecological assessments for women’s health (PAP smears etc).

Like MD’s, ND’s are trained and licensed to order and interpret lab exams and results. Lab testing will be performed with each patient to help with diagnosis and treatment plans.

Like MD’s, ND’s are trained in pharmacology and are leaders in predicting and reporting on herb-drug-vitamin interactions.

 

How is a visit to your Naturopathic Doctor different than seeing a Medical Doctor?

ND’s primary goal of treatment is to address the cause of disease. Naturopathic doctors do not try to suppress symptoms, but view them as helpful indicators in determining the source of the health issue.

ND’s see their patients as a whole person and carefully consider the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual elements when diagnosing and developing a treatment plan. Not only do we encourage that you bring all of your health concerns to each visit but we require it.

ND’s utilize the most successful natural therapies from around the world that strengthen the body’s innate ability to heal without causing harm. We do not use pharmaceutical drugs known for causing many side effects.

ND’s believe their role as a doctor is to teach each patient the knowledge and understanding of how to heal themselves.

ND’s believe that prevention is the best medicine. By assessing risk factors and understanding patient circumstances, it is our goal to prevent illness and help our patients achieve their optimal health regardless of age or medical history.

ND’s take the time to make a difference in your health. Patient visits are 45 minutes -1.5 hours.

ND’s know your time is valuable, so you will be seen on time, every time.

OHIP does not cover ND visits, however most private health plans cover all or a portion of Naturopathic treatments.
